you know i'm hurting when...

I did a first this afternoon. I went to a chiropractor! In all my 26 years of life, and 6 of those being in bodywork, I have never seen a chiropractor. At first in my career, I didn't really believe in their work, as they didn't really believe in massage. I didn't like how most chiro's made their clients come back so often when there wasn't much need. i want to make my clients feel so good they don't have to come back, just that they'll want to. But, over the last couple of years, I have seen a change in their practice, and I have changed my opinion. I even refer some of my clients to chiro's from time to time. There are just times when my client's issue is beyond my capability.

On Saturday morning, I bent down to pick up a pile of clothes, and as I was coming back up, my entire upper back locked up. It stayed like that over the weekend but didn't really hurt all that bad. I even saw 5 clients on Saturday and drove all day Sunday. But, as it all loosened up, it actually started hurting more and more. By Sunday morning, it was really tight, and by Tuesday, I was in the most pain I have ever been in in my life! I live with a lot of tightness in my upper back all the time, so that's no biggie, but this was just horrible! I tried to be tough, but it just kept getting worse no matter what I tried. I got a massage, drank nothing but water, juice, and detox tea, put on heated rice bags, stretched, didn't even exercise this morning, etc. etc. So, today, after hardly any sleep last night and even crying a few tears this morning, I said heck w/ it all, I'm calling the chiro. next door. He was so nice and got me in a little after 5 today. I thought maybe he wouldn't really have much time to do much with me, but he actually did quite a bit of moderate adjusting! It was GREAT! A little scary, but great! Every spot but one popped with no trouble whatsoever. He does want me to try to walk over there tomorrow so he can do one more thing for me. He didn't want to overwhelm me or my body today for my first visit which was very kind of him. So, in conclusion, my first Chiro. visit was a good one! I don't feel 100% better yet of course, but I feel the best tonight that I have so far this week. I think it's just what I needed to get me on the right road! But of course, the massage yesterday helped the app. today! :)

Now we'll just see how well I hold up sleeping in a different bed for the next 2 1/2 weeks! I have to dog/house sit till May 3rd. We'll see how that goes!
