Anyway, we had fun with it, and i took some pictures which I will share with you. But, all of this got me thinking, as most things do, because I tend to be very deep in my own mind, even though I may sound like a stuttering idiot to everyone else. I was thinking after the night was over and I was cleaning things up, about how much we (as in most humans, especially Americans) are involved in the entertainment, celebrity world. Not only did we watch the Oscars, but invited others to watch them with us, and we felt like we needed to take the time to agree or disagree with the outcomes of the awards. Then, all of our actions had me drift to deeper thoughts about how sad it all is. I mean, ok, i will admit that it's fun, movies are cool to watch, and I don't think we'd survive without music, and of course the people who bring all of those things to us will eventually become famous for doing so, it's inevitable. But, do we really need to idolize so much of it? And, why have 14 (that's just my random exaggerated number) award shows in one month celebrating it all? And, not only do we give out awards for the best this and the best that, but we have to take it even further and take the time to discuss what fashions all of these "actors" and "musicians" are wearing! Why do we give a flying fart about who or what Penelope Cruz is wearing as she walks down the red carpet? Or how well did Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie put themselves together on that given night while also making sure their nanny shows up to babysit their 17 (again, my random number) kids? Are our lives so pathetic or boring that we must sit there and criticize or applaud these over-paid people for hours at a time? (the answer is probably yes) Why is it that we love, just love, to escape our lives and enter those?
But all of that said, I am guilty of it too. If given the chance and the time, I will get immersed in a good book, pay $10 to watch a movie in a theater, or sit on our couch and tell the others in the room how beautiful I think Nicole Kidman and Marisa Tomei are. Yes, I escape my life too. Goodness, why else did I come up with the idea of Sunday Night Movie Night? Oh wait, that's right....so I could sit with some of my favorite, closest, coolest people every week for at least 2 hours at a time....yah, let's go with that.... :)
here are the shots that the paparazzi caught from the red carpet...
