It's Real
Because we are in a house this year and not an apartment as before, we decided to get a real tree. We had thought of this last year around Christmas, that "next year, it will be nice to have a real tree!" I totally forgot about it though till a few weeks ago! We needed to go out and get one. If you guys know our schedule, you know that Travis and I never have time together to do much of anything unless it's 9:30pm or after (I don't think tree farms are open that late). So, luckily, Travis' mom and brother were kind enough to come down on Tuesday with the truck and help Travis pick out a tree. They went to a farm, but not only was it expensive there, but there wasn't much of a selection, so they ended up getting a great tree from Lowe's! It's super tall and so much more tree than we're used to! We haven't decorated it yet because we wanted to give it time for the branches to fall a bit. And, we want to do a black and silver theme, so that means we have to go out and get all new ornaments. Even if we stayed with our original ornaments, we'd have to get new ones though because we wouldn't have enough! I think we will go tonight after I get done working and Travis gets done with his basketball game to Menards to buy some stuff (apparently they have a great selection this year). My goal is to have it finished by Friday night. Stop by and take a look!

I'm 'bout to get big sister on you...You should plan ahead for next year's theme and then you can buy your ornaments on sale after Christmas - you'll save so much money that way. Even if you bought a bunch this year, spending more $ after Christmas will still mean saving in the long run. I would recommend Pier 1 - they're a little expensive but one the ornaments go on sale, they usu have super cute ones and decorations!
i've bought from Pier 1 in the past, but we didn't go w/ them this year. I usually do like to check them out after Christmas. We may not do a different theme every year, and even if we hadn't gone w/ a new theme this year, we probably still would've had to have gotten more ornaments since this is a bigger tree. Hated to spend some extra, but kinda had to.
Let me know how the black and silver works out for you. I was concerned with how well the black stands out, or I was so interested in it, that it was going to be our theme. We are going with a crystal and silver theme this year. Michael's and Wal-Mart had a bunch of black and silver ornaments.
we got most of our dec's at menards and hobby lobby (hobby lobby had a good sale). we really like it. we have more silver & white than black, but that's prob. a good thing. I really like it! It's not depressing or "darkish" at all!
