Halloween Party
Last night we had our Halloween Bash here at our house. It was a costume party which made it that much more fun because we got to see everyone's creativity. You don't think adults are going to want to get dressed up that much, but then they do, and it's funny to see the outcomes. We had quite a few people show up which always makes a host feel good! That had to be the most people we've had in this house at once so far. The night was filled with visiting, talking, eating, watching scary movies, and playing games. It was great to see people that we only see once in a blue moon. Because I was playing host, I didn't get to catch up as much as I would have liked, but I still really enjoyed getting to see everyone. We decided ahead of time that we were going to give away prizes for "best" costumes. We put quite a lot of thought into what our prizes were going to be. Our categories were scariest, best celebrity, most original, funniest, and best overall. Each prize related to the category itself, like for scariest, we gave away two scary movies. We decided the winners by using the "applause-o-meter." This seemed to be the most fair way of judging. The winners were: Scariest - Nathen - "The Baron" a skeleton lord type costume (lots of makeup and a prop were used), Funniest - Ryan & Carrie - a "white trash" couple made up of a pregnant fair queen and her boyfriend sporting a Larry the Cable Guy type outfit, Best Celeb - David - Slash, and Most original - Jason & Alyssa - "bun in the oven" hand-made costume and chef. Then, the best overall out of those winners went to Jason & Alyssa. Some of my favorites as well that didn't win were Richie Tenenbaum (perfect by the way), The Munsters (lots of makeup used for this one), James Bond and his bond girl (they look a lot like them anyway!), Joan of Arc, The Drummer from Def Leopard, The Crossing Guard, the Deer Hunter, and The Siamese Twins (only one person and a puppet made this one up). Ok, so I just about mentioned all of the costumes used, but what can I say I loved them all. We also had Pam Beasley from The Office, a writer on strike (very time-appropriate), a couple of witches, a jester, a priest/devil, a couple of doctors, a construction worker, Guns of Roses Fan (Slash's girlfriend), a big little girl or baby doll, and an army boy. I think I mentioned them all, but probably not. Oh, and I was Amy Winehouse and Travis was Dwight from The Office. We're already thinking about next year. I'd like to turn this into an annual thing. Maybe get rid of the Labor Day party idea and stick to just Halloween. We'll let ya'll know!

I think Evan was most scared by the skeleton too - I would have voted for Richie...
