My third birth this year

Yesterday I helped with my third birth since being certified. It was great! She wasn't due till Thurs. & it was looking like she might go overdue, but she didn't. Her water broke early in the morning but nothing was going on contraction-wise. So around 1 we went to the hospital to check in & get Pitocin started. We prolonged that till about 3:30 so we could try some things on our own, but none of our tactics worked all that much except walking. After the Pitocin kicked in and we did more walking and sitting on the birthing ball, things really got moving. By 7:15pm she was at 6cm and by 7:40 the baby was born! Those last few centimeters came really quick (usually thanks to it being a 3rd baby). We were in the bathroom and she complained about a lot of pressure, so not to gross you all out, but I looked.....and there was a head! We said, well lets get to bed so we don't deliver on the toilet! Minutes later & only with maybe 2 pushes, the baby was out! Beautiful 6lb baby girl. The only bad part was that the dad missed that part! He had gone home in Spencer to unlock some doors before we knew she was even at 6cm and we all thought he had plenty of time, which he did, but he got sidetracked by his other children like a good dad should and didn't get back in time! But I think they were all ok with it. At least it wasn't the first baby! It all went a lot quicker than we expected and I was back home by 9:30!

Terrific, I meant to ask you about how the delivery went. Amazing every time isn't it! I don't think it gets old. :)
