1/2 hour of sleep.....and still goin....well, kinda :P

I totally thought that I had already gotten on here and updated the blog with news from the birth, but come to find out I hadn't yet. This is one example of my inability to decipher dream from reality. That is probably an entire other post, so I will not get into that. Instead, I will finally update...

So, I was with my client off and on all day last Wednesday. She was already known to be at 3cm, so we were hoping things would kick off quickly, and I was glad to be close by all day just in case. Therefore, I ran back and forth between her house and my office. She looked good all day, but just never quite got to where she needed to be for me to say, yes, you're in active labor. She was still able to rest and walk easily, and talk to me. I got all of my 5 clients in which was good for me, and then I went back to her at the end of my night with 2 Starbucks cans in tow! :) I got there around 7pm Wednesday night. The contractions were becoming more intense, and unfortunately she developed the dreaded lower back pain from the baby probably being in an odd position. To get through it all, we alternated between the floor and ball, the couch, and walking the stairs. They have such a cute, old house with this amazing wooden staircase....I happened to glance over there at one point, and said, how do you feel about those stairs....?...I figured she'd say HECK NO! but she was such a trooper and walked up and down, up and down multiple times! Around 11pm (our goal was to go to the hospital around midnight) she got sick and started to show more progression signs, so we ventured away to change scenery. An hour or so later, we discover that she was now at 5cm! Yay! We of course would've preferred 7, but we were glad it wasn't only 4! I thought we'd have a baby by 8am, and even though the next few cm's went quickly, she got tired early morning and things slowed down around the 9cm mark which isn't usually the case. It took us a while to get from 9 1/2 to 10cm which was just crazy! I realized that I was slowly losing her from this birth....she just wasn't quite "there" anymore. She was of course tired which played a huge role, but I could tell there might have been something else going on. So, I gave her a pep talk, told her husband to encourage her, and basically told her she had to get "back in the game" and that I needed to see some of that spunk she had before. Pretty soon, we were pushing our way to 10, and then like a 1/2 hour later, pushed the baby out! I was so proud of her! The baby was finally born at 12:14pm Thursday afternoon! I stayed around for another hour then left at 1:30 and went to work....on a 1/2 hour of sleep since Wednesday morning at 7:15am! I saw 2 clients, then showered, then went to the school for a bit, then home to finish preparing for RC Kids. If I was smart, I would have caught up on my sleep over the weekend, but no, i'm an idiot and have yet to do that. So, slowly, I think I am dwindling away and losing my mind! :) This was a great weekend though, so totally worth it! I got to spend way more time with Jacci than I thought I would, and she helped me babysit all Sunday which turned out to be a lot of fun...and got to see Crystal too! I went up to Terre Haute and hung out with the 2 of them and gave Crysal a massage! Even though massage is what I do for a living, I could massage people I love anytime! I think it ended up being like 10:00 at night when I finally worked on the 2 of them, but I didn't care, I love to help people feel better and I got to socialize at the same time. I also realized that I need to find more time to get up there and spend with some of my favorite people in the world! Those of you who have always been my favorite people in the world...don't worry, you still are! :P Ok, now it's Tuesday and I'm at work typing this finally. My 9am client didn't show which really bites! 2 people have called since wanting to get in, and I've told them, if I had known she wouldn't show, I would have called you in...or I could have slept later, or it would have been easier to get myself up to run...which I did not do and will have to do tonight after work. Oh well, everything happens for a reason. I'm going to use the last part of this hour to go get gas, because I barely made it in here and maybe get some coffee.....
