you know the machines control us when....

Starting Friday night, my car was making some funny noises. You might want me to describe these "funny" noises, but sorry, can't do it. All I can say is that they were funny or strange. It continued on Saturday as I drove all over town, but otherwise my car didn't seem to be messed up too much or anything. Sunday, we used Travis' car all day, so mine just sat still. But on Monday, all heck broke loose, so to say. I drove to work just fine, but my radio kept shutting off and then coming back on. I've had trouble with my radio before, so I figured it was just an old issue. Then, on my break, I had to run a few errands. I went to the church for a meeting, then rushed home to meet with a guy about our ceiling. After I met with him, I jumped back in my car to rush off and continue my errands. I turned the key.....heard a slight turn and then just click, click. GREAT! PERFECT! I wait a few minutes, and try again before I call for help but it still wouldn't start. I called Travis and luckily he could leave work for a few minutes and come get me. While I waited, I called the Hyundai place and they thought it was probably a battery issue even though I had just replaced the battery less than a year ago. When Travis got there we tried to jump it but that didn't work, so we took him to work and I kept his car till he got off work. We took it in bright and early yesterday morning and dropped it off at the dealership to get looked at. Luckily Travis had the day off yesterday so I could keep his car all day and his family came down (they were going to come down anyway), so they could take him around to a few places. I hadn't heard from the car people all day, so I called in between jobs but they said that they couldn't find any problem with it. They had their electrician look at everything and they drove it around but no problem was occurring. Of course, why would it? I'm not driving it! I agreed that they could keep it overnight and look at it some more today. Travis and I are once again a one-car-couple today. Hopefully I will be able to get my car back tonight or if they need to keep it longer that I can get a loaner. In times like these, I realize how sad it is that we rely on these machines so much. If our car or cell phone breaks down or if our cable or satellite goes out, we don't know how to handle it! And you never know when it will happen either. Usually things like this happen either when you are just breezing through life thinking everything is fine and then BAM! you are knocked down to the ground or it's on a day when 25 other things have gone wrong or have been changed in your ever so delicate life that this one more huge catastrophe is SO the last thing you needed! This is how I felt by late afternoon yesterday. I thought if anything else goes wrong I will just go crazy (ok, crazier than i already am)! But, then a couple hours later, I have to reflect and realize that my life is just fine, it could be lots worse, etc. etc. I have no reason to complain....maybe just to break down from time to time.

On the upside though...if you'll look to the right you'll see some updated photos of our landscaping. It's been updated even more from those though because Kevin, Joyce, and Kyle came down and helped Travis out some yesterday. That was very nice of them, thanks guys!
